The UK Civil Aviation Authority has extended an exemption allowing certain Sikorsky S-92A helicopters used for offshore operations to continue flying without the latest enhanced Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) until 30 June 2027.
This is because technical delays have prevented Sikorsky from completing the required upgrades on time. Operators can use the exemption only if the helicopters have the existing HTAWS installed, record the exemption in the aircraft records, and obtain prior approval from their CAA Flight Operations Inspector.
