These Regulations update the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 to reflect the introduction of the EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, which will apply in Northern Ireland from 20 January 2027 under the Windsor Framework. They clarify that the 2008 Regulations apply only in Great Britain, allow machinery meeting the new EU requirements and qualifying Northern Ireland goods to be placed on the Great Britain market, implement and enforce the new Machinery Regulation in Northern Ireland, and preserve existing rules for machinery already placed on the Northern Ireland market before the changes take effect.
