The MCA has published Marine Guidance Note MGN 706 (M) to explain how the UK is implementing the 2022 amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention 2006, outlining updated requirements for shipowners and operators in areas such as recruitment and placement, repatriation, accommodation and welfare provisions, and clarifying how these changes – introduced following lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic – will be applied in UK law to improve seafarers’ working and living conditions.
