SR2018 number 7: new and existing, low risk, stationary medium combustion plant

The Environment Agency (EA) has made several updates to the guidance on the standard rules and generic risk assessment for new and existing, low risk, stationary medium combustion plant:

  • Hydrogen has been added as a new fuel type with corresponding criteria and ELVs including using a blend with natural gas.

  • Gas oil substitutes have been added as a fuel type with corresponding criteria.

  • Caps and Cowls and non-vertical stacks are now permitted.

  • Clarification has been added around use in an AQMA where there is a relevant air quality plan.

  • MCERTS monitoring has been added as an option.

  • There have been various updates to the interpretation section to improve understanding.
