The MCA has published MGN 659 (M+F) Amendment 3 to provide updated guidance on applying the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Entry into Enclosed Spaces) Regulations 2022, replacing the previous edition and reflecting IMO best practice; the guidance explains the scope of the Regulations, key duties for shipowners, masters, skippers and crews to manage risks when entering enclosed spaces, expectations for training, risk assessments, drills, atmosphere testing equipment and exemptions for certain small vessels, to help improve seafarer safety and compliance with the law.
