The Offshore Major Accident Regulator (OMAR) has issued a revised version of Operations Notice 4. The previous version of the ON was published in August 2017.
The regulatory framework governing radioactive substances in the UK has been updated:
– The Radioactive Substances Act 1993 Amendment (Scotland) Regulations 2011 has been replaced by The Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (enforced by SEPA)
– The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 (enforced by the Environment Agency) remains in place
– The Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 has been replaced by The Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (enforced by the HSE)
Furthermore, references to OSDR have been updated to OMAR.
