The NSTA has published two commissioned studies on the challenges of transporting carbon dioxide through offshore pipelines. The reports conclude that there are no significant hardware barriers to building new CO₂ pipelines, while providing guidance on assessing the potential to repurpose existing offshore hydrocarbon pipelines and associated equipment for CO₂ transport, helping developers, licensees and the supply chain plan future carbon storage infrastructure.
