The MMO and OPRED have issued a formal call for information from developers and operators planning underwater noise-generating activities in or affecting the Southern North Sea Special Area of Conservation during Winter 2026–27 (1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027).
Organisations undertaking activities such as piling, UXO clearance, explosive operations and geophysical surveys are asked to submit project details by 28 May 2026 to help regulators forecast cumulative underwater noise impacts and determine whether enhanced monitoring or coordinated management measures will be required.
