The Scottish Government has published the Orkney Islands Regional Marine Plan, which sets out a clear framework and planning policies to protect the marine environment while supporting sustainable economic development and community wellbeing across the Orkney marine region. The Plan supports delivery of Scotland’s Blue Economy Vision by addressing climate change and biodiversity loss, guiding development to appropriate locations, and promoting fair, resilient, and nature-positive marine sectors, drawing on extensive collaboration with local communities and stakeholders throughout its preparation.
