OPRED held a consultation on the draft Offshore (Oil and Gas) Installation and Pipeline Abandonment Charges Regulations 2026, seeking views from industry and other stakeholders on proposed new regulations and guidance that would update how costs for OPRED’s decommissioning regulatory work under the Petroleum Act are recovered from operators (replacing the 2012 regime with more timely and comprehensive charging), outline transitional arrangements from the old to new regime, and invite feedback on specific detailed provisions; responses will inform final legislation which is expected to come into force in April 2026.
