DESNZ has updated the planned methodology changes for the UK greenhouse gas emissions statistics for publication in February 2026, outlining improvements to how emissions are estimated—such as updated models for waste, wastewater, shipping, industry, agriculture, land use and other sectors – resulting in provisional effects that reduce estimated 1990 emissions and slightly increase 2023 totals, with details to be finalised in the UK National Inventory Document submitted to the UNFCCC in April 2026.
