The MCA has published MSN 1849 (M) Amendment 1 to set out updated guidance on the on-board complaint procedures required under the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (as implemented in UK law), explaining how shipowners and masters must ensure ships have a fair, effective and prompt process for seafarers to raise complaints about breaches of MLC rights, including rights to complain to the master, external authorities and the MCA without detriment, with the amendment updating reference information only.
