Crown Estate Scotland has updated its cables and pipelines page with guidance regarding the Offshore Transmission Asset Owner (OFTO) rights.
Crown Estate Scotland are responsible for licensing renewable energy generation in the zone between 12 and 200 nautical miles offshore. This means that, if cables require to be laid to connect offshore wind farms to shore, permission will be needed for the full length of those electricity cables.
