The Environment Agency (EA) and Defra have updated its guidance on dust emissions management, reducing the threshold for mandatory planning near Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs).
Operators are now required to produce a dust emissions management plan if located within 1 kilometre of an AQMA, down from the previous 2-kilometre threshold.
The updated requirement is part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to align environmental controls with evidence-based air quality priorities.
