The Environment Agency (EA) held a consultation on the development of environmental assessment levels (EALs) for the amine-based carbon capture process.
The EA relies on EALs to identify and mitigate potential operational risks of these chemicals through the permitting process. In applying for a permit, operators are required to assess that emissions from their proposed facilities does not exceed the relevant EALs.
This consultation closed on 13 March 2025.
