The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), Department for Transport (DfT), Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), The Scottish Government, Welsh Government, Northern Ireland Executive, Mike Kane MP, Sarah Jones MP, and James Murray MP have jointly issued a statement stating that the UK ETS Authority intends to include the maritime sector in scheme to cut carbon emissions and support economic growth; a scheme to recognise non-pipeline transport for carbon capture and storage; and changes to remove excess free allowances from businesses who cease activity in their final year of operation.
