The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has published this MGN to provide details and guidance on the interpretation of the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Provision and Use of Work Equipment) Regulations 2006.
This notice should be read in conjunction with MGN 636 (M) amendment 2 which provides details and guidance on the interpretation of the merchant shipping and fishing vessels (health and safety at work) regulations 1997, MGN 587 (F) amendment 1 (in respect of fishing vessels) and where work equipment is used for lifting, MGN 332 (M+F) amendment 3, which covers the requirements of the merchant shipping (lifting operations and lifting equipment) regulations 2006. It replaces MGN 331 (M+F) amendment 2.
