The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has published this notice to advise both Dynamically Positioned (DP) Vessels operating in a dive support mode as well as to other vessels that are operating in the vicinity of such vessels, about best practices when applying the provisions stipulated within the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 (COLREG).
This MGN replaces MSN 1221 – Dynamically Positioned vessels and the dangers to divers operating from them and has been updated to provide further guidance on the application of COLREG and considerations to be made when operating in the vicinity of DP vessels undertaking diving or other high-risk operations.
