This Marine Guidance Note (“MGN”) sets out what the amendments to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (“MARPOL”) Annex II and the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (“IBC Code”) which came into force on 1 January 2021 mean for existing offshore support vessels (“OSVs”).
This MGN has now been amended because the transitional period outlined in the original MGN 649 (M) has come to a close and amendments to the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution from Noxious Liquid Substances in Bulk) Regulations 2018 which implement the OSV Chemical Code in the UK have now come into force. This MGN also provides some further technical guidance.
