Update to OPPC Guidance and Standard Industry Conditions as a result of clarification on reporting requirements for Miscellaneous discharge streams plus update to web page

BEIS OPRED has updated the Oil Pollution Prevention and Control (OPPC) Guidance Notes which can be found at the gov.uk webpage Oil and gas: offshore environmental legislation

Updates to the OPPC Guidance Note includes:

– addition of links in sections 13.1, B3.2 and B3.4 which were missing

– guidance strengthened in section A7.1. to direct users to the Standard Industry Conditions (SICs) in relation to the reporting of miscellaneous discharge systems

– SICs amended to make clear that returns for miscellaneous discharge systems are to be provided by email (see SICs 4.1 and 4.2)

– Tables 1 and 2 updated to explain what information is required to be reported and the timeframe for doing so.

Changes to the website include:

– Removal of Interim OPPC Guidance – Letter to Industry – 28th February 2019 as this guidance is captured within the main OPPC Guidance Notes

– The Supplementary Guidance on the Offshore Chemicals and Offshore Petroleum Activities (Oil Pollution Prevention and Control) (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 has been removed as it is no longer applicable
