The Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 establishes minimum working and living standards for all seafarers working on vessels flying flags of ratifying countries. It’s also a vital step toward ensuring a level-playing field for states and shipowners who, until now, have suffered from being undercut by those who operate substandard ships.

The Convention was previously published by the Department for Work and Pensions.
