These new regulations revoke and replace the Offshore Combustion Installations (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Regulations 2001. They come into force on 19th May 2013.

These new regulations form part of the implementation of the EU Directive on Industrial Emissions, and include several changes from the 2001 regulations.

Among these changes are: the removal of the exemption for installations existing before 30th October 2007; the requirement for additional information to be provided in applications; a requirement for the Secretary of State to consider the impact of a project on other Member States; several additional conditions to be included in permits; and additional powers for the Secretary of State to establish emission limit values.
