This Marine Guidance note provides guidance on the procedure for obtaining an exemption of the requirements of the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessel (Control of Vibration at Work) Regulations 2007 (link). The 2007 Regulations are designed to protect workers from the harmful effects of vibration. Regulation 12 of those regulations allows for the MCA to grant an exemption from certain requirements.
This Guidance document sets out those requirements and the circumstances in which such an exemption may be granted, as well as explaining the procedure for submitting an application.
