The Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessel (Control of Noise at work) Regulations 2007 (link) are intended to protect workers from the harmful effects of noise. Regulation 13 of those regulations allows for the MCA to grant an exemption from certain requirements. This Guidance document sets out the requirements for which an exemption may be sought, and the circumstances in which such an exemption may be granted. It contains information on the conditions that must be met before an exemption may be considered, as well as the procedure for submitting an application.
