MIN 422 (M): Insurance – Directive Requiring Shipowners of Seagoing Vessels over 300 GT to Maintain Liability Insurance (link)
This Marine Information Notice serves to notify stakeholders of the forthcoming entry into force of Directive 2009/20/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 23rd April 2009 on the insurance of shipowners for maritime claims (the Insurance Directive) across the EU from 31st December 2011.
The Directive requires that all shipowners of seagoing vessels over 300GT maintain effective cover for their liabilities to third parties in the form of insurance and carry a certificate on board to prove this.
This notice replaces MGN 135 (M).
This MIN expires on 31st December 2012
